The USPS uses MERLIN (Mail Evaluation Readability Lookup Instrument) equipment to evaluate the mail as it moves into the mail stream. When it finds errors, the mail piece is rejected or may be charged at a higher rate for non-compliance with current USPS standards. By using Access Mail to presort your mail, your mail will comply, and you won’t have to add software, equipment or personnel to assure that. Our equipment will properly barcode and presort your mail to fully comply with USPS criteria, thereby speeding it on its way to your recipients.
In May 2009 the USPS will require even more stringent standards of all mailers using discount postage. Intelligent Mail® Barcodes must be on every mail piece. Mailers will have to have their own ID. Every letter’s address must be 100% accurate, including recipient moves within 95 days of address change. Mailers will be required to prove their compliance with these address updates.
